You and I are going to drink a lot of coffee together. Like, borderline dangerous amounts of coffee.
So, first things first. Pour yourself a mug and I’ll introduce myself real quick.
My name’s Jordan — but everyone calls me “J” — and I’m a 27th degree black belt in chugging coffee.
I’m also strength & nutrition coach, I hold several powerlifting world records, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have my writing featured in a variety of outlets like CNN, the Huffington Post, and Schwarzenegger.com.
This channel isn’t for fame, publicity, cash, props, fist bumps, likes, pings, pows or whatever else there is.
It’s a place where you and I can chat.
I’ll never sugar coat, lie, or beat around the bush. I’ll tell you everything exactly as I see it. Some stuff you might like. Others you might not.
And that’s totally cool.
Either way, my goal here is to create a discussion. A place where you and I can get together, exchange ideas, and motivate each other to be better every day.
Like I said, we’re gonna drink a lot of coffee together — borderline dangerous amounts — but I’m excited. Because there aren’t too many online communities in which the sole purpose is to inspire and motivate one another.
And that’s exactly what you and I are going to do here.
To your success,
THE KETO DIET FOR BEGINNERS
(The Keto Diet Explained – Please Read)
🦄If you do the keto diet and love it…amazing! If you don’t do the keto diet and love whatever you’re doing…also amazing!
Either way, this piece is not to say the keto diet is “right” or “wrong.” Keto is “Good” or “bad.” This is purely to help you better understand the keto diet and why the keto diet may (or may not) be a good fit for you.
🍄Briefly, The Keto Diet is very low carb (almost always to the tune of less than 100g/day) usually done under the premise that carbs – sugar, specifically – are inherently fattening because of insulin.
🥐I’ll be the first to admit there are clear benefits to ketogenic diets, but carbs (including sugar) are NOT inherently fattening. I expect backlash for this because this is from where most disagreements between the two camps originate. Either way, carbs do not make you fat so long as total calorie intake is in check.
🍳Moving on, the keto diet proponents often say it’s better for fat loss, health, longevity, energy, brain function, & more.
🍔Truth is, the keto diet (or, at least, very low carb diets) may have an advantage among individuals w/ obesity bc of its affect on blood sugar & ability to promote rapid weight loss. BUT as they lose body fat and get healthier, the benefits dissipate to the point where higher carb intakes may be more beneficial bc of their affect on leptin, muscle growth, athletic performance, energy, & more.
🍺Worth mentioning, many people start the keto diet, see rapid results, & get emotionally tied to the method bc of the initial rapid progress. But as time goes on & progress slows, they still hold onto the belief that it “must” be better bc it initially worked so well.
Your body is constantly changing. You are forever in flux & what worked for you at one point in your life might not work for you later & that’s totally ok.
In fact, understanding that is where the magic lies. Because once you understand there isn’t a single “right” or “wrong” way, you open yourself up to limitless opportunities to succeed, of which you are only limited by your imagination…& BMR 😉.
